THE SONG

THIS WEEK’S FOCUSED SCRIPTURE

And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,           

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
    O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
    O King of the nations!^[a]
4 Who will not fear, O Lord,
    and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
    All nations will come
    and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

THOUGHTS FROM MARCY

A number of years ago I got the opportunity to travel to Beijing, China, with an ESL group. Our job was to practice English with students from a much smaller city in China, Pingliang, who had come to explore their nation’s capital. As guests in China, we were instructed to be careful about mentioning anything publicly about church, being on a mission trip, etc., because it was not acceptable to their government, and we wanted to protect the students we were helping.

Before I left on this trip, I had been learning a little about Quantum Physics and how when we release a sound wave, it continues on and on through the earth. Sound doesn’t stop. As a worship leader and a follower of Christ, I was learning how much power there really IS in the words we speak. We can release life or death… and the sound continues on and on! What a thought! (Proverbs 18:21)

One evening, right before an outing with the students, we gathered in our little hotel room and prayed for our time together. I remember praying, “Lord, I pray that YOUR NAME is carried through this city, somehow, while we are here.” We got on the bus, and I was asked to entertain the students, over the intercom, with a song! Because it was inside the bus, I felt led to start singing the chorus of, “Here I am to Worship,” and I was thinking, “Man, it really sounds like our singing is loud in here!” What I didn’t realize was the local interpreter, also a Christ-follower, had bravely clicked the outside intercom speaker on, and we were literally being heard singing about Jesus through the streets of Beijing as we drove along. Wow! I was amazed… what I had just prayed hours earlier was happening before my eyes. I saw that God can do mighty things beyond what we can imagine—His way!

Here’s the amazing truth: In Revelation, it reveals how there’s a song going on in the earth and in heaven right now as we speak! It’s God’s Song, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. And we get to join in the Song! Our lives get to be a part of His song, moving through the earth, proclaiming who He is! It never stops. It never grows dim. We have the privilege as sons and daughters, dearly loved ones, to join in the Song. And the Song goes On and ON!

Join in today proclaiming His goodness and His faithfulness! He is SO GOOD!
