2021 – Available 21 Day Fast
In 2021, One Thing Is Necessary

Luke 10:38-42 ESV “Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.’”

There are so many things in our lives that demand our attention. Certainly, there is sin and unrighteousness in our culture that screams out for our attention. But there are also many good things — even things we would count as blessings — that require our attention as well. We have families and jobs and households and friends and Church and hobbies and other blessings and obligations. If you are anything like me, there simply never seems to be enough time, energy, and attention for all these competing needs. Yet, with the story above, Jesus tells me that there is ONE THING that I cannot afford to neglect. No matter what else is going on in my life, I must make time to quiet my soul, sit at His feet, and listen to Him. Even if I fall short of meeting my own expectations or the expectations of others, I want to hear Him tell me that I chose the good portion, and it will never be taken from me!

Let 2021 be the year that we make the hard choices in our priorities and schedules to make ourselves and our lives available for the ONE THING that Jesus said is more necessary than any other thing.
