2020 – 7 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Day 3: Prayer For the Church

Day 3:  Prayer For the Church

Below are some suggested topics and corresponding scriptures to allow us to come together in unity as we pray for Victory Church, our church leaders, as well as local churches across the nation:

Pray for unity among church leaders, and the Body of Christ

2020 has been a year of tremendous fear, turmoil, and division.  As followers of Jesus, we are called to travel the path of peace, patience, and unity.

“As a prisoner of the Lord, I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling.  With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another, especially those who may try your patience.  Be faithful to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit among you in the bonds of peace, being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope of divine destiny.  For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father.  And He is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all.”  Eph 4:1-6 TPT

“Encourage the believers to be passionately devoted to beautiful works of righteousness by meeting the urgent needs of others and not be unfruitful.”  Titus 3:14 TPT

“So I’m asking you, my friends, that you be joined together in perfect unity – one heart, one passion, and united in love.  Walk together with one harmonious purpose, and you will fill my heart with unbounded joy. And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us.  Let His mindset become your motivation.”  Phil 2:2, 5 TPT

Pray for wisdom for the leaders of the local church

During this tumultuous season, there are so many areas where we need God’s wisdom.  Pray for godly insight for church leaders as we navigate COVID-19, cries for justice and reform, and as we face questions of economic uncertainty.

“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions.  With all your heart, rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make.  Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.  Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore Him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong.”  Prov 3:5-7 TPT

“I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.  I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.  So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before.  Don’t make me tug and pull you along.  Just come with me!”  Ps 32:8-9 TPT

Pray for leaders of the local church to live a life of holiness

Church leaders are called to live a life that is pure and holy.  Pray for them to stand firm in their faith and conduct their lives in accordance to God’s Word.

“For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.  He must not be quick tempered or a drunkard or violent, not greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.  He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also rebuke those who contradict it.”  Titus 1:7-9 ESV

“As God’s obedient children, never again shape your lives by the desires that you followed when you didn’t know better.  Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you. For Scripture says:  “You are to be holy because I am holy.”  1 Peter 1:14-16 TPT

“Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 TPT

“Remember your leaders [for it was they] who brought you the word of God; and consider the result of their conduct [the outcome of their godly lives], and imitate their faith [their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider of eternal salvation through Christ, and imitate their reliance on God with absolute trust and confidence in His power wisdom, and goodness].  1 Peter 1:15-16 AMP

Pray for many souls to come into the kingdom

In a world of darkness, chaos and division, pray that the Light of the Gospel will shine brightly, and that people will be drawn into the Kingdom.

“Now wherever you go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you.  Never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.”  Matt 28:19-21 TPT

“The only way people come to me is by the Father who sent me – He pulls on their hearts to embrace me.  And those you are drawn to me, I will certainly raise them up in the last day.”  John 6:44 TPT

“But the Lord will be the Savior of all who love Him.  Even in their time of trouble, God will live in them as strength.  Because of their faith in him, their daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil.  This is true for all who turn to hide themselves in Him!”  Ps 37:39-40
