2020 – 7 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Day 6: Prayer for the Economy, Business Owners and Unemployed

Day 6: Prayer for the Economy, Business Owners and Unemployed

Below are some suggested topics and corresponding scriptures to allow us to come together in unity as we pray for the economy of our nation, for business owners and all those facing unemployment:

Worldwide economic stability:

Economic instability can cause fear and stress. Prayer moves us toward a dependence

on God. Let’s begin by acknowledging that God is the creator of all things and that

He is the provider of everything we have, of everything we are and everything we need. We pray for Gods supernatural provision, mercy and restoration for those suffering from the economic fallout.

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.” Psalms 145:9-16 NIV

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 NIV

Business Owners:

Many business owners have been greatly impacted. For many, their businesses  are not just stores or companies, they are the fabric of their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Let’s pray that God would guide business owners and provide for their families during this difficult and uncertain time. We should pray that business owners would not be overcome with fear and worry, but that each and every one would trust in God and find wisdom and guidance in Him. We pray that as they do this, that they will make wise decisions, that these decisions would be made at the right moments. God be with all our business owners. Bless them and keep them.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” Jeremiah 29:11-14 NIV

Those facing unemployment :

There are millions of people facing unemployment right now. Pray that God would help those unemployed to not be anxious during this season. We acknowledge that worry is a sign of unbelief. We are so thankful that God knows our every need. Let us draw near to Him during this time. The Lord our God is our provider and our sustainer. He knows what we need, when we need it. In Genesis 22, the Lord is introduced to us as, Jehovah Jireh, meaning the Lord will provide. Let us call on Jehovah Jireh in our time of need.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Philippians 4:19-20 NIV

“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.” Luke 12:24-31 NIV
