14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 (VRV ’77)
I believe it has happened to many of us, when we are challenged within ourselves in moments when we start “talking about God,” sharing our beliefs, sharing our faith. It’s like taking a test for which we were not prepared, and suddenly we are faced with the probability of failing it! The insecurity or fear drives us to “believe in secret” and to make sure that “no one messes with our faith.” So, we make the choice to not expose our faith. Why is it before God and other Christians, we make our faith look strong and determined! It’s a faith capable of going through any obstacle! Yet when it’s exposed to those who aren’t Christians, or maybe don’t share the same beliefs/faith, we “hide it” or pull back.
When is it that you are going to show it as a part of your life, to those who really need to know; to people that don’t really know how to activate their faith?
Have you ever thought that, for them, we are still just those people who “go to church a lot” and “talk a lot about God”? As you expose your faith, I believe they will feel inspired to do the same! God will change their perspective through your faith; your example!
Dear God, I make a commitment today. I need to make a change in my life. I know that You have done great things in me that others need to know about. My relationship with You is not anymore about me only; it needs to be about You in US. I will bring the Light of your Greatness into the darkness… for them to see who You really Are. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
