2020 – 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Thankful in All Circumstances

“16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

This is one of the most challenging verses in the Bible to me because it informs us that God’s will for us is to be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. I’m smart enough to know that all circumstances include the bad, confusing, and unfair circumstances we face in life. I believe the Lord wants to help us understand that we always have something to be joyful for, even if that something is

waking up another day. He wants us to pray continually to keep our focus on Him and not on the problems we face. He desires us to give thanks because it reminds us of how faithful our God has been in the past and how He will be faithful again. I don’t know what you’re facing today, but in Christ you can be filled with joy, continue to converse with the God of the universe, and remind yourself of the faithfulness of your lovely Father.

Jesus, help me to keep my eyes on You and not on my circumstance. I understand that Your character doesn’t change based on my circumstance. You’re still good. I give thanks to You, Lord, for saving my life from sin and making me new. I ask that You remind me once again of Your faithfulness and save me once more. I won’t stop being joyful, because You are my source. I will not give up praying to You God, because You have never given up on me. I trust You Jesus. Amen.
